Farm-Fresh Organic Delivery To Your Home

Do you know where your food comes from? Can you pinpoint where your food was grown, how it was processed and which distribution channels it went through before ending up in your hands? When you become aware of the origins of your food, you gain the power to make decisions that maximize freshness, quality and nutritional outcomes for you and your family.

Why Not Just Shop At A Supermarket?

Not Local Produce

When you buy from a supermarket, the produce is often from out of town, and in many cases comes from far south of the border. Even if you live in a state like California, where so much incredible produce is grown locally, most of it does not make it to local supermarket shelves.

Old Produce

The age of the produce is also an issue. A fruit or vegetable may appear to be newly harvested, fresh from the ground or the tree. In fact, it may be several weeks or months old. For instance, prepackaged greens like lettuce may be up to two weeks from their pick date by the time they are sold. Tomatoes may be stored for 2-3 weeks before showing up at the supermarket. At that point, they’ve both lost most of their nutritional advantages.

High Bacterial Exposure

Finally, a problem exists in the number of people who have handled the produce, from the farm hands to the packer to the distributor to the store clerks to the customers themselves. This exposes it to potentially very high levels of bacteria.

Why Is It Better To Buy From A Farmer?

Peak Ripeness

If you want to maximize freshness, quality and nutritional value, purchasing from a farmers market is the best option. The produce is usually picked at peak ripeness the day before and refrigerated immediately.

Higher Nutrient Content

Additionally, when you buy local and eat at peak seasonality, nutrient counts tend to be higher than supermarket produce. On the flip side, in order to reap the peak nutritional benefits of farm-fresh produce, you will need to consume it within a few days of purchase.

Relationships With Producers

As regular visitors to farmers markets in Los Angeles, my kids and I have devoted our Sunday mornings to choosing our produce every week for over 5 years. We chat with the farmers, sample new fruits and pick out the best produce from our favorite vendors. If you want to be successful, there is a specific way to shop a farmers market.

Pandemic Challenges Of Farmers Markets

However, this year’s pandemic has made the routine significantly more challenging: The vendors no longer allow us to choose our own produce; we cannot sample; and the long wait times to get into the markets have created significant frustration among customers.

If you don’t want to venture outside to shop your perishables, and also want to avoid supermarkets, Instacart is a very reliable way to go. However, as convenient as Instacart may be, the produce is not nearly as fresh as getting it directly from a farmer.

Enter Organicas Fresh: An Organic Delivery Service

Organicas Fresh is a local business that delivers a box of fresh, seasonal and certified organic produce directly to your door every week. I recently had the privilege of meeting Ester Ezra, the founder of Organicas Fresh. Ezra was born in Israel and raised in Chile. She and her husband have their own farm in Chile. This is where Organicas Fresh originated in 2002, as the first service to bring the delivery concept to Chile. She moved to Los Angeles in 2017 and launched the business here in 2019. Since then, it has grown through word of mouth.

Why Choose A Farm-Fresh Delivery Service Like Organicas Fresh?

When you choose Organicas Fresh, Ms. Ezra does the picking for you. With her extensive knowledge, she goes directly to farmers in Central California, selects the best produce and prepares it in a beautiful assortment that she hand-delivers to your door. Currently, the only way to order is through WhatsApp, (213) 840-9750. (A new website is in the works, with an online order interface.) Ms. Ezra sends her customers a menu of what is available each week.

15% Discount On Your First Order

If you decide to place an order after reading this piece, you will receive a 15% discount on your first box. Just mention “Consciously Kosher” in your message.

Organicas Fresh And A Consciously Kosher Diet

Eating a consciously kosher diet means valuing what’s whole, recently picked and seasonal, rather than relying on produce that was picked weeks before, often in another country or state.

I love knowing where my food comes from. However, going to a farmers market to choose your own farm-fresh produce takes time, effort and planning. When the farmers market is not a possibility, and I still want to get fresh, quality and seasonal organic produce, Organicas Fresh is the perfect and reliable choice.
